An Indoor Geolocation System for Wireless LANs

چکیده
With the development of Wireless Local Area Networks(WLANs), people are interested in developing the location-based services for WLAN users, especially in an indoor environment. The core technology of location-based services is the location-sensing technology. In this paper, we present a location-sensing method which is based on the location fingerprinting approach for WLAN in an indoor environment. This paper focuses on the implementation issues of constructing an indoor location-sensing system. These issues include how to increase accuracy of position, how to reduce the efforts of constructing a fingerprint database and what factors influencing the characteristic of the location fingerprint. The experimental results show that our method can achieve a better accuracy.

Contextual Geolocation: a Specialized Application for Improving Indoor Location Awareness in Wireless Local Area Networks
The future of computing includes "adaptive" menu structures for applications that will automatically select content and navigation options – as desired – based upon the location of the user. With wireless systems, location awareness improves networking efficiency and helps alleviate the notoriously slow process of inputting information into handheld computers. For example, a security guard coul...
متن کاملImproved Estimation of Trilateration Distances for Indoor Wireless Intrusion Detection
Detecting wireless network intruders is challenging since logical addressing information may be spoofed and the attacker may be located anywhere within radio range. Accurate indoor geolocation provides a method by which the physical location of rogue wireless devices may be pinpointed whilst providing an additional option for location-based access control. Existing methods for geolocation using...
متن کاملUsing UWB Measurements for Statistical Analysis of the Ranging Error in Indoor Multipath Environment
In this paper we use UWB measurements for bandwidths up to 3GHz to present a framework for statistical modeling of the indoor radio channel propagation characteristics that are pertinent to precise indoor geolocation using time-of-arrival (TOA) estimations. Accuracy of indoor geolocation systems relies on the strength and TOA of the direct path (DP) in the channel profile. Based on UWB measurem...
متن کاملNode Density and Quality of Estimation for Infrastructure-based Indoor Geolocation Using Time of Arrival
Infrastructure-based indoor geolocation systems utilizing a regular grid arrangement of sensors are being investigated for many applications in indoor wireless networks. One of the factors affecting the Quality of Estimation (i.e. location estimation accuracy) of these systems is node density. In this dissertation we study the effects of node density on indoor geolocation systems based on time ...
متن کاملIndoor Non-directed Optical Wireless Communications - Optimization of the Lambertian Order
For an indoor non-directed line of sight optical wireless communication (NLOS-OWC) system we investigate the optimized Lambertian order (OLO) of light-emitting diodes (LEDs). We firstly derive an expression for the OLO from a conventional Lambertian LED model. Then, we analyze the indoor multi-cell NLOS-OWC channel characteristics including the optical power distribution and the multipath time ...
